A Special Call Meeting of the Mayor and Board of Aldermen of the City of Ocean Springs was called to order by Mayor Ainsworth at 5:30 p.m. on July 7, 2000, at City Hall in the City of Ocean Springs. Present were Aldermen Garrard, McDonnell, Cody, Cosper and Gill, and City Clerk Adrienne Howell. Aldermen Jalanivich and Denyer, and City Attorney Oscar Jordan were absent.

Mayor Ainsworth read aloud the following Special Call:

Motion by Gill, seconded by Cody, to accept the City Engineer’s recommendation to approve the final pay request from B.L. Excavation in the amount of $26,510.63 regarding the Davis Bayou Drainage Improvements project.

Motion by Cody, seconded by Gill, to appoint Kerry Belk as Police Chief, effective July 10, 2000, at a salary of $45,000.00 per year and place him on six months probation.

Motion by Cody, seconded by Gill, to (1) move the $6,000.00 expense (donation) that has already been made to the YMCA from account no. 001-313-664 to 001-313-650; (2) amend the FYE 2000 budget to increase Other Services & Charges (001-313-650) by $15,000.00 and to decrease the Ending Cash Balance by $15,000.00; and (3) authorize payment of $9,000.00 to the YMCA (for a total donation of $15,000.00) as provided for in the local and private bill.
