Be it remembered that the Mayor and Board of Aldermen of the
City of Ocean Springs met in a Regular Meeting at City Hall in the City of
Ocean Springs at
The Mayor was late and Alderman Jalanivich called the meeting to order.
Alderman Cody gave the invocation.
Alderman Jalanivich led the Pledge of Allegiance.
Alderman Cody made a motion to accept the Selection Committee’s recommendation that the debris contract be awarded to L’il Hauler Waste Services at a rate of $10.05 per cubic yard. Alderman Gill seconded the motion. Before the vote is taken, Public Works Director Kaufman explained the bid process that the City had gone through. He expects the debris removal to begin on Saturday. The contractor will use Applewhite’s as the dump site. He stated that no hazardous materials will be picked up by the debris contractor for the City. He stated that it should take about a week to make the first pass and then allow the citizens a few days to let the trash accumulate again. During the discussion the Mayor stated we should find out when and where citizens can get rid of hazardous materials. Mr. Kaufman noted that the debris contractor will not rake up leaves and that it will be mostly a mechanical pick up. Alderman McDonnell noted that the citizens should be urged strongly to put their leaves and trash in bags in order to make a timely and neat pick up. Alderman McDonnell asked how the debris contractor would be paid. The Mayor and Mr. Kaufman stated that City Clerk Dudding had made arrangements for funding to pay the contractor and then be reimbursed by FEMA. After discussion, the motion carried unanimously.
Alderman Gill made a motion with a second by Alderman Cody to ratify the memo regarding Emergency Leave. The motion carried unanimously.
Alderman McDonnell made a motion with a second by Alderman Gill to approve refunds for city rental facilities to the following:
Bernadette Parker Civic Center $150.00
Catherine Weber Civic Center $200.00
Dr. John Drake Community Center $200.00
CDGG Enterprises Community Center $200.00
Rachel Dupuis Community Center $200.00
The motion carried unanimously.
Alderman Gill made a motion to pay the McGuire Insurance Agency Annual Premium and Alderman Cody seconded the motion. The motion carried unanimously.
A motion was made by Alderman McDonnell to accept the revision of the Time & Attendance Policy for Non-Exempt personnel and Alderman Gill seconded the motion. The motion carried unanimously.
Alderman McDonnell made a motion to have the Mayor, City Purchasing Clerk and Mr. Scruggs to review the quotes for roofing the Community Center and if they come in under $10,000 to award the job and complete the job also included in the motion is to amend the COA as requested by Mr. Scruggs. The motion carried unanimously. The Mayor noted that grant monies will be available. The motion carried unanimously.
